Fundamental Principles
The Foundational Principles of ORIGIN-1
Humanity, Collaboration, Neutrality, Sovereignty, Voluntary Service, Unity, and Universality: These seven principles are the core of Origin-1's identity and its civil peacekeeping mission. They ensure that our approach to peacebuilding is ethical, effective, and deeply respectful of the communities we serve. By adhering to these principles, our organization, its members, and the civil peacekeepers we deploy can earn the trust of all parties and deliver impartial, needs-based support.
HUMANITY
Origin-1 is founded on the principle of humanity, driven by a profound desire to prevent and alleviate suffering wherever it is found. We operate with the purpose of protecting life and health, upholding the dignity of all human beings, and fostering mutual understanding and lasting peace. This principle guides our proactive peacebuilding, asserting that suffering is a universal experience that demands a universal, non-indifferent response. It underscores our commitment to a non-violent, preventative strategy that values human dignity above all else, ensuring that our work focuses on the root causes of conflict.
COLLABORATION
Origin-1 provides protection and assistance without discrimination. Our actions are guided by the needs of individuals and communities, and we prioritize the most urgent cases of distress. As a civil peacekeeping force, our credibility is built on our commitment to collaboration with both Indigenous Nations and State-Nations. We do not take sides in a conflict; instead, we serve as an impartial third party, focused exclusively on building bridges and co-creating solutions. Our commitment to non-discrimination ensures that our work is always just and equitable, recognizing the unique sovereignty and perspectives of each community.
NEUTRALITY
To maintain the trust of all parties, Origin-1 and its civil peacekeepers remain neutral. We do not take sides in hostilities or engage in political, racial, or religious controversies. This neutrality allows us to access and assist those in need in even the most volatile situations and to maintain an open dialogue with all parties involved. By being consistently impartial and non-partisan, we can better mediate disputes and build trust, demonstrating that our only agenda is the preservation of peace and human life.
SOVEREIGNTY
Origin-1 is an independent organization. While we may cooperate with State-Nations, we must always maintain our autonomy to act in accordance with our foundational principles. Our ability to be truly independent is what allows us to respect the principles of neutrality and impartiality. We retain the right to conduct independent assessments, speak freely with those in need, and decline any requests or partnerships that conflict with our mission. This independence is essential to our respectful engagement with the sovereignty of Indigenous Nations, ensuring their self-determination and authority are always honored.
VOLUNTARY SERVICE
Origin-1 is a voluntary movement driven by a desire for peace and not by a desire for gain. The principle of voluntary service signifies the humanitarian motivation of everyone who works within our organization, whether they are paid staff or volunteers. Our members are not prompted by personal profit, but by a powerful desire to help others and promote long-term peace. This global network of volunteers and civil peacekeepers is rooted in local communities, allowing us to gain invaluable insights into regional tensions and providing a foundation for our peace-building initiatives.
UNITY
There can only be one Origin-1 organization in any country where we operate. It must be open to all, without discrimination, and carry on its humanitarian and peace-building work throughout the entire territory. This principle enables Origin-1 to serve as a unifying force, mediating and promoting lasting harmony and peace within nations. By recruiting staff and peacekeepers from all ethnic, social, and religious backgrounds, we ensure our presence reflects the diversity of the communities we serve.
UNIVERSALITY
The need for Origin-1 is worldwide. All nations and peoples, including Indigenous Nations, have equal status and share equal responsibilities in building peace. The universality of violence requires a universal response. Origin-1 and its partners have a collective responsibility to assist one another in responding to crises and to support each other's development in a spirit of solidarity and mutual respect. This principle ensures that the integrity and public image of Origin-1 depend on all our components adhering to these foundational principles at all times.
The ORIGIN-1 Mission
Origin-1, as an international civil peacekeeping organization, is seeking to become the largest civil peace and security network in the world. Its mission is to prevent conflict, alleviate human suffering, protect life and health, uphold human dignity, and mediate for long-term peace. We are a global network composed of a Peace Assembly, National Collaborations, and a dedicated force of civil peacekeepers, united by these seven foundational principles.
